Anyone who knows the slightest thing about me knows that I bloody love a good inspirational quote!
I can't say exactly why, I think it's finding something that reflects exactly what I'm feeling or the encouragement I need to hear is reassuring to me. It's like a confirmation that I'm not crazy (questionable? ha!)
I share a lot of quote on my Instagram, and to be honest most of them are just what I need to hear on that day. I figure if I appreciate it and it inspires me to get my A into G, then someone else may need to hear it too?
Or not. Either way is ok with me!
SCANDI X BOHO EDIT
The reality for most of us who enjoy inner-city living these days is that spaces are getting smaller and smaller. While there are still those who choose to live further away in order for the budget to stretch further, some of us just can't give up being able to walk right out into the hustle and bustle and have the all important morning coffee basically on our doorstep!
Anyone who has been to Hong Kong knows that some of the apartments there, really take compact living to the next level. One couple, decided to renovate their two bedroom 33 square-meter apartment to become a bright and flexible living space. To do this, they actually did-away with the second bedroom and installed some insanely practical and sleek cabinetry.
I submitted a scandi x boho style edit for Adore Magazine's intern search on the off chance, I entered with a 'you gotta be in it to win it' attitude and... I was selected!!!
For two weeks I'll be spending 8-10hours per week sourcing products and content or whatever is needed for upcoming issues. I absolutely love finding new things and spend hours scouring Instagram/Pintrest just for fun so this insanely exciting for me - I have never been so excited to do something for free! ha
I saw this house while deep diving on Instagram and LOVED the relaxed and organic look of it. The fitout and styling of it is in keeping with the style of the building with modern elements added. Nothing ticks boxes more for me than a well executed renovation that respects the original building while bringing it into current times!
STUDIO DAVID THULSTRUP: PETER'S HOUSE
After seeing amazing cabinetry on various Swedish Instagram's for quite some time, I have finally found their source and I can't believe it.
The manufacturer is Super Front They are a Swedish company that design and manufacture fronts, tops, sides, handles and feet to fit IKEA furniture - Including kitchens. Say it with me.. Genius!!
The fronts come in a variety of simple and chic patterns and the colour options are beautiful and refined, as Swedish design always is. This with the handle and feet options allow you to create truly unique pieces suited to your taste at a fraction of the price of custom.
After coming across the amazing bedroom with it's thick oak panelling and tonal colour palette in 'Peter's House' a few days ago on Instagram I found the talented creators behind stunning bedroom - Studio David Thulstrup. An architecture, interior and design practice based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The private residence was commission by photographer, Peter Krasilnikoff. "The design is focused around a central mirror-clad atrium, which floods all three floors of the residence with natural light. The atrium is lush with specially selected grasses, plants and a feature tree which is visible from all floors - creating a central and bright oasis."
Matte black is most certainly having its moment in the spotlight, whether its tap-ware or home accessories we can't seem to get enough of it!
I am always looking for ideas for when I eventually build/design my own home and black panelled windows are at the forefront of my mind. They are the ideal divider between rooms in small spaces as they don't visually divide the space or block any light, in larger spaces they provide a feeling of grandness. They give a hint of industrialism but with a more modern and clean edge.
The general feeling may be that the bigger the better when it comes to our homes, but these apartments prove that the size of your home doesn't have to limit the feeling or style.
What these apartments lack in size they make up for in personality!
MILK & SUGAR: A/W 2017
Todays post is about unmade beds. Not the kind you leave while your rushing out the door to work, the kind that is intentionally ruffled and carefully planned to portray a cosy and inviting look.
Personally, I'm not a fan of this look in everyday life, although the below images may just change my mind.. for photography purposes only that is.
You be the judge..
THE HOME OF HAILEY & GLENN
Milk and Sugar have released their 2017 Autumn/Winter collection (Hooray!).
It's a different direction to their previous collections, in that it has darker colours and is a bit more moody. It still has the signature freshness we love so much, that has become expected from all Milk & Sugar products.
I am especially loving the Bottled Green coloured items, but as you'll see in my fave picks below - I can never turn down grey!!
Get your home cosy for the cooler months at Milk & Sugar
NATHAN + JAC AVANI
You'll all be familiar with the amazing label H&G Designs which I have featured multiple times on Harlow and Willow, but you may not know that it's owners - Hailey and Glenn designed and built their epic home in Queensland. I saw a photo posted on their Instagram a few weeks a go and immediately emailed Hailey asking if I could feature their home.
This is what home goals are made of!
"We built the home ourselves from scratch on the Sunshine Coast.
The block was a small 220m2 which was quiet a challenge to fit everything we wanted into it. Build 260m2
We wanted the small block to feel large and spacious so we made sure we used high ceilings wherever we could and also tall door frames.
KATE & KATE: EXHALE
The trio at Nathan + Jac have done it again with their latest curated collection 'AVANI', the perfect mixture of earthy tones and monochrome classics.
Check out the concept and lust-worthy images from their campaign shoot below, as well as my top six picks from the collection!
"AVANI, MEANING ‘EARTH’ IN SANSKRIT, BRINGS US BACK TO OUR ROOTS. DRAWING INSPIRATION FROM OUR CONNECTION WITH NATURE AND THE ENVIRONMENT AROUND US, AVANI OFFERS A RELAXED AND UNDERSTATED LOOK WITH DEPTH AND WARMTH.
AVANI’s earthy palette is inspired by nature; with tones of sage, forest, washed bronze, black, moss, seafoam, navy, taupe and washed charcoal. Soft textural elements are washed, worn or raw, with polished accents in black for a bold and contemporary contrast. This curated collection favours authenticity and imperfection in equal measures".
MILK & SUGAR: NEW SEASON
This season Kate & Kate has been inspired by a shared desire to pause, reflect and forge a considered path forward. Exhale is a collection of gradient greys, nuanced pinks and blues, free-form shapes and luxurious natural fibres - brought to life in Kate & Kate's signature Blankets, Linen Throws, Napkins, Cushions and Towels.
Exhale’s reflective mood is expressed not only in design, but also in a fine hand-stitched finish, superior quality materials, and for the first time, an exciting exploration of luxurious Alpaca wool.

"This season we placed a huge emphasis on simplicity and colour. Our whole range was based around a colour palette that we carefully selected and while there are some more colourful and fun printed items in our range – there is also an equal focus on creating pieces in a restrained manner.
H&G DESIGNS: ELEMENTS METAL RANGE
This feature is something a bit different for Harlow & Willow, it is a coming together of art and fashion.
habbot x Emma Lipscombe is a collaboration between Australian Shoe fashion designer Annie Abbott of habbot and WA artist Emma Lipscombe.
Emma Lipscombe (featured artist of The Design Files Open House, Artist Open House Freemantle, and celebrated in Australia’s leading publications) was invited to collaborate with Annie Abbott, Australian Shoe designer to launch a limited capsule collection which celebrates the coming together of inspiring creative women succeeding within the design/fashion landscape.
I interviewed Annie Abbott of Habbot Studios about the collaboration!
